Additional Information:   This aggressive alien invasive plant is originally from Europe.   It has invaded many areas of Washington, D.C., where it forms monocultures that eliminate other species.   Lesser Celandine's beautiful yellow flowers and lush green leaves do not compensate for all of the environmental damage that it is doing.

Figure 1.  Leaves of Lesser Celandine in late winter in Glover-Archbold Park before they totally cover the ground.   Snowdrops (white flowers) are also alien plants, but ones that do not spread rapidly in forests in the WDC Area.
