      Post Oak is native to southeastern Massachusetts, southern Rhode Island, southern Connecticut, southeastern New York, eastern Pennsylvania, West Virginia, central Ohio, southern Indiana, Illinois, Iowa and Kansas south through Florida and Texas (Fernald 1950, page 543).
