Leaves of Chestnut Oak in the White Oak Group.

Rock Chestnut Oak is another common name for this species.

Chestnut Oak is native to southwestern Maine through southern Ontario and central Indiana, south through eastern Virginia, and upland through Georgia, northern Alabama, and northern Mississippi (Fernald 1950, page 545).
