A mating pair of Imported Cabbage Butterflies on a Tomato leaf on a warm, overcast afternoon.
The male is the lighter individual.
He carried his mate in flight; she did not flap her wings.
This butterfly is native to Eurasia.
Humans introduced this species to North America and Australia.
Larvae of this butterfly consume Garlic Mustard, Cleome, cole crops, Nasturtiums, and other species.
Adults visit many species of plants for nectar (Lazri and Barrows 1984).
This is the first butterfly to fly on GU Campus in the late winter and the last to fly in late autumn.
