At about 5 p.m. on 24 August 2001, I found a cicada larva crawling on the soil of a flower pot.   I later placed it on a stick to photograph it because I thought that an adult would soon emerge from it.   From about 6 p.m. until 1 a.m. on the next day, I photographed the cicada outdoors under artificial light as it emerged as an adult.   The dead cicada (which is lying on a rock) is the same species, but not the individual I photographed emerging.
